Roland was a French paladin who rode his steed, Veillantif, and wielded the sword Durandal. He fought tirelessly to avenge his fallen comrades. Every boy dreaming of heroism has heard of Paladin Roland. He served under Charlemagne, and alongside his sword Durandal and his Oliphant horn, he stayed loyal to his king and faith. Despite facing conspiracy, enemies, and destruction, a true knight always stands firm.
Roland’s bravery allowed the French troops to retreat safely during the Battle of Roncevaux Pass, though he perished in the fight. His legacy of chivalry endures as a symbol of courage and romance, originating in France and spreading throughout Europe.
